Fossil finding and a cream tea at Kimmeridge

We started from the quarry car park above Kimmeridge, along the ridgeway, down past the Nodding Donkey, along the path and down onto the beach.

The tide was just on the way out so no rock pools to search but we found evidence of some fossils in the slate.

We then took a brief detour up to Clavell's Tower then back through the fields to Clavell's cafe and farm shop where we had a cream tea or some tea and cake.

Then a short walk up past the church and we were back at the car park.

For more walks like this coming up in the future, have a look at www.jurassicjaunts.co.uk.

Priest's Way, Dancing Ledge and Durlston

Hi,,

A maily overcast day but ideal for walking as we did a circular route from Durlston.

Initially great views over Ballard Down and Swanage Bay, then Nine Barrow Down and westwards.

Then down to Dancing Ledge and back along the Coast Path, past Anvil Point lighthouse, Tilly Whim caves to Durlston where the project to convert the Castle folly as the eastern visitor centre of the Jurassic Coast is underway.

Of course, there is also the globe, built in 1891 and all the geographical information whose stonework and letters have recently been cleaned up and an excellent job done.

Regards.
