Christmas Greetings from Jurassic Jaunts

A very wet start to Christmas day here along the Dorset coast but it did clear in the afternoon.

Boxing Day was ideal in the morning, a bit of sun breaking through and relatively warm. I took a walk at Worth Matravers, out to East Man and it was very good.

Many people had the same idea and the numerous paths around the village had walkers trying to work off a little of that Christmas lunch!

A bracing weekend

15 December

A very bracing weekend for walking with a cold easterly but still good to keep c;ear of the many colds and sore throats about.

On Sunday, I walked from Daggers Gate, near Lulworth to Ringstead - pretty good going out and some good, testing, short, sharp slopes but pretty cold on the way back.

I also noticed some very white cliff faces, meaning there had been some small slips over recent weeks although that is hardly surprising.

I hope you all have a restful Christmas and New Year and let's hope we get plenty of good, clear days to take advantage of this fantastic Jurassic Coast plus the pubs, accommodation, services, activities and adventures it provides.

2/12

Another terrible Sunday for walking! However, if you looked at the forecast on Friday evening (and you believed it!), yesterday had a good slot and it was a good temperature.

However, today will give me a good chance to read about the Jurassic Coast Railways Ltd transport plan which offers a real alternative solution to the car. These potential serious issues do not currently seem to be being addressed by either local Councils or politicians.

Not only will the railway proposals help the Olympics but will help into the future as more and more people come to visit this amazing Dorset and Devon coastline.
