A great walk to Swyre Head

Sunday 23 November

Sat in the car park at the entrance to Encombe House, the wind was howling and the rain was lashing down. However, the Met forecast said it was going to clear so we got out of the car and got ready.

Blue patches of sky started to appear and after about 200 yards, the rain stopped, the sky turned blue and we had a great walk via Swyre Head, Heaven's Gate and a circular route just to the west of Kingston. we also missed the couple of heavy showers that threatened but bypassed us.

The views were great from Swyre Head with St Alban's/St Aldhelm's Head to the east and Clavell's Tower, Kimmeridge, Gadd Cliff, Mupe Bay andf Portland to the west over a choppy sea.

So always check the Met weather forecast as it can turn both ways!
