Kingston (Dorset) walk, great views of Corfe Castle

Hi,

I took a walk on Saturday which I hadn't done for a while and gives another view across the valley to Corfe.

If you park in the Houns Tout car park (Grid Reference SY954 7955) and walk back towards the Scott Arms. After about 150 metres, turn left following the Bridleway sign. Follow the track down to the gate and then the directional signs which will take you out into open land with great views of the Castle, Poole Harbour and ridgeways to your right.

This is not a well walked path initially so a good tramp and this path can either take you north towards Church Knowle and then to Corfe Castle, or south to the coastal path to be a circular walk back to the car.

If you have any questions, please contact me via www.jurassicjaunts.co.uk.

Happy walking.

Kimmeridge Circular via Swyre Head and Clavell's Tower

Slightly foggy at times on the coast but a great walk last Sunday.

We set off from the quarry car park above Kimmeridge village and took a clockwise route up onto the Ridgeway, through Heaven's Gate to Swyre Head, the highest point on the Purbeck Hills. The views were great to both the north, east and west.

We descended down to Rope Lake Head and turned right along the Coast Path to the new Clavell's Tower which looked majestic.

Dropping down to Kimmeridge Bay, we walked past the many divers who were there for the day, across the grassy area to the right odf the cottages, turned right and followed the path back up into Kimmeridge village.

We had an excellent lunch at the newly re-furbished Clavell's Cafe and Shop and then walked up the path behind the church to the car park.

A great walk!
