Majestic Swyre Head on the Isle of Purbeck

32 of us set off from Kingston for the walk alongside Encombe House, up to Swyre Head then down past Smedmore House, into Kimmeridge village and hen back across the Ridgeway.

The group included 5 from the Kilimanjaro training group who will set off on 10 January on their charity trek. That morning, they had already done a 5.5 mile route planned by Jurassic Jaunts.

That included a couple of steep climbs and then onto this 4.75 mile route.

Afterwards, we had a great lunch at Kingston Country Courtyard.

There are 2 Jurassic Jaunts in December - Sun 15th at Tyneham and Sat 28th at Worth Matravers.

Regards.

A breezy but dry Swanage Railway walk

While some believed the British weather too far in advance and declined the offer, a good group of us set off in fine, but very breezy weather from Langton Matravers, alongside the Railway line, viewing the trains as they passed by, then along the valley, around the village of Harmans Cross and back to the start.

Dry throughout, although a little wind-swept, we headed for an excellent meal at The Halfway Inn at Norden.

The next walk is Sunday 24 November, 11:30, visiting Swyre Head, the highest point on the Purbeck Hlls and the Ridgeway above Kimmeridge. Stunning views and a great lunch back at Kingston Country Courtyard.

If you would like any advice on any aspect of the Jurassic Coast, please just get in touch.
